Paper Series
Paper is a material that was historically revered in many cultures, and which is integral to many forms of fine art. However, when it is used as a product and discarded, it loses many of these associations. This body of work explores re-contextualizing paper back into a precious context through the use of Richlite, a hardwood-like composite created primarily out of recycled paper.
The material is carved and cold connected to silver components and frames, used as a new and modern material in jewelry. This association is reinforced through set stones, a visual vocabulary attached to precious wearable works. The series also explores the use of restraint through contrast between simple forms and textures, and emphasizes spaces between forms through the use of Japanese colored fine silver leaf.
